Frequently Asked Questions

Constantly planning to declutter your iPhones camera roll? You’re not alone!
With our Smart Cleaner App your ever-growing collection comes to an end. Smart cleaner inspects your photo library, finds similar, duplicates, screenshots, selfies and blurred photos and suggests to you which to keep and which to delete. For a well-ordered photo library!

You need to have the iOS14 version installed.

To scan your photo library and start suggesting you photos to delete and to keep, we need to access your photo library. Your data is safe! Photos and videos won’t be stored.

When opening Smart Cleaner · Storage Clean Up, the app asks you for access to your photo library. After giving access, Smart Cleaner starts scanning your photos. Please be aware that this process can take some time. You can then decide if you want to start the ‘Smart Cleaning’ process of all photos on your phone or chose a category (duplicate photos, similar photos, screenshots, burst, selfie, contacts) to clean. The next time you are opening Smart Cleaner, it uses available scan results and only analyses the recent changes. This process saves loading time.

Smart Cleaner categorizes all pictures in 3 main categories: Similar, Duplicate and Clutter.

Similar

Similar photos are individual entities that appear to be the same but slightly differ in the captured details. Similar Photos are often taken with a few-seconds of delay and capture the same object on the same background, similar lighting conditions and locations. The difference can be as small as a change in the mouth movement or as massive as replacing a person but using the same background.

Duplicate

Duplicate photos are nearly identical and are also called exact copies of photos. Any photos that share the same attributes with the source from which it is copied. These can be copied files created after the original picture with no self-defining qualities.

Clutter

The clutter category includes five groups of pictures: Screenshots, Selfies, Live, Burst, Notes. By default, all pictures in this category are selected for removal.
